One warm Sunday afternoon, my friend Lisa called on the phone and said she would be coming over with a very nice present for me. Now, it was not my birthday and my birthday was still a couple of months ahead so I was surprised to hear about her present. But I thought, who doesn’t love gifts? So I told her that day’s a perfect day for her to come over. I even told her that I would prepare her favorite pasta dish. That got her excited, too.
A few hours later, I heard the sound of her car pulling over by my front gate. But what I was not expecting to hear was the sound of some yelping. I immediately realized what could possibly be her present for me.
Dogs! She was going to give me dogs?
I said dogs because I was sure that I heard more than one yelp or bark at the same time. And I proved myself right when I opened the door and greeted my friend. My heart instantly melted when I saw what Lisa was clutching between her arms. Those were the most adorable little puppies I have ever seen in my life.

“These are pug puppies,” Lisa said.
“You’re giving me both of them?” I asked.
“Oh no. Just one. I was going to make you choose between the two,” she said.
I was very delighted to see the puppies. I asked her what colors are the puppies.
“This one’s an apricot and this other one is a fawn. Those are two of the most popular colors of pugs and pug puppies,” Lisa explained.
I never knew such names of colors ever existed. I chose the apricot colored pup and I couldn’t stop myself for thanking my friend for her wonderful present.
