A pug’s feeding frenzy
Don’t think that a pug should be fat as it makes them cuter; it could not be more wrong. An obese dog has a lot more health problems than a healthy one, not to mention that your pug might have trouble breathing or cooling down even after moderate exercise. How to keep your pugs from becoming, well, pigs? There are simple ways in correctly feeding pugs.

First, determine if you’ve been overfeeding your pet. Look down on your pug’s figure while he is standing up. Is he shaped like a log? If he is, then it’s time for him to lose a few pounds. He should have broader shoulders, which narrows a little by the “waist” and broadens a little by the tail part. When feeding pugs, the most important rule is to not let them eat whatever they want, whenever they want it. Pugs will eat anything even if they are full. But when is the right time to feed him? Moreover, how much and how many times a day? It would be good to ask your local vet what would suit him best, but generally puppies (3 to 6 months) should eat 3 times a day, and adolescents (6 months to a year, adults (1 to 8 years), and seniors (8 years and above) twice per day. As with all dogs, you should be feeding pugs the right combination of carbohydrates, protein, fatty acids and vitamins that is suitable for the breed. Finally, supply him with lots of water; as pugs tend to be more sensitive to hot weather, he needs more liquid to cool him down. The most important thing to remember is this: feeding pugs should not become a feeding frenzy.
