Pretty pugs

Know nothing about grooming pugs? Are you a new parent feeling overwhelmed with all the precautions and reminder you hear about taking care of your pug? Here are simple things to keep in mind when grooming your pet.

A pug has many wrinkles in the face and mouth. Make sure to wipe it regularly and check for odd smells or secretions. Pay attention to the wrinkles in the muzzle, as this is where food and dirt accumulate and wipe gently with a soft cloth. Clean his ears as well. Ask your local vet for an ear-cleansing solution and dab the inside of his ears gently. And while at the clinic, have his nails trimmed as well. Sometimes they can be fidgety and not want people touching his paws, so make him get used to it by touching and holding his paws while he is still a puppy.

Another important thing to remember about grooming pugs is to pay special attention to the eyes. Dab the creases around it gently. Check for infections or dirt and if you see a small indentation in the eye, or a grayish cloud covering it, or anything unusual then take him to the vet immediately. And lastly, grooming pugs would not be complete by forgetting his coat. Keep it smooth and clean by combing gently. As a pug has a double coat of fur, you will notice that he never seems to stop shedding! Just brush him and use a dog shampoo and conditioner that is right for him. Cuddle your pug while brushing as he will surely love it. In fact, you might want to do this with every cleaning activity. This really makes grooming pugs easier and more fun!
