Types of Pugs

Did you know that the word ‘pug’ actually means ‘a playful little devil’ in Old English? That’s right. That adorable little breed of dog we all know as a pug has been known to be a very playful companion for centuries.

You can never go wrong with any of the various types of pugs. This little dog is one of the most friendliest and most sociable animals around. They make great canine companions for small children. Although pugs also like to be around their fellow dogs, they do however prefer the companionship of people. Now doesn’t that make the pug one of the best dogs to have?

The pug is a type of toy dog and sometimes can be categorized as a lap dog. It loves to play around in spite of its smug like face. A pug has a black, wrinkled face. Its body is small but stout and appears very sturdy.

That black and wrinkled face has given the pug its notoriety as the ugly yet cute breed of dog. And with its subdued and highly sociable and playful nature, the pug can easily warm up any person’s heart.

Some types of pugs can be categorized into colors. There are four popular colors: black, fawn, silver, and apricot. Although this breed of dog varies in the amount of shedding of its coat, the fawn colored pugs are the most notorious to shed a great deal of hair.

Who should get a pug for a pet? Families with small children is an ideal home for pug. Pugs love people. They love to be around with people and kids alike, playing with them, running with them or just sitting with them on the couch while watching television. If you want an adorable and reliable canine companionship, then the pug is the right dog for you.
